Once I got the item, I hooked it up, and it worked just perfectly. No noise coming from the unit and installation was a breeze. This item worked perfectly out of the box. There is no comprimise for the quality of the images. I would highly recommend this unit to people who are interested in splitting their image output from their computers. You DO need the male to female converter or the male to female extension. But I read the reviews and knew this ahead of time so I ordered the needful.
Just plug in the cables and turn it on. I use it to split between my computer monitor and a projector, via 25' cable.Strong signal, never a hiccup.
You need to check the bandwith of the amplifier to be shure that the video quality will not suffer. I bought this splitter to see the computer video in a computer monitor and a Plasma TV. The connection between the computer and the monitor is always male-male cable. Now, people are using more resolution for their wide screens so the bandwith increases. The only minor problem was the connection between the computer and the splitter was male-female cable. The video quality is very good. I tried before another splitter, but the video quality was bad.
Keep in mind that the input requires a female VGA plug. This Splitter produces a great signal with a trim and sleek form factor.
In any case, this is a rock solid unit with good performance. Only complaint is that the input port didn't take a male-male VGA cable like what people usually have lying around spare; you need a VGA extender cable with male on one side and female on the other (or a gender changer/adapter, under $10 from Amazon or a good local PC shop). Works great, with nice, clear video. We used this for a work session where we had several people needing to see what's happening on one PC, and it went very smoothly.
